Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Solar Verdict website and our free assessment service (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. The Service

Solar Verdict provides general information about home solar and a free assessment service for New Zealand homeowners, and may introduce you to third-party providers such as installers or assessors. Solar Verdict does not itself design, sell, or install solar systems.

2. No professional advice

The content and assessments provided through the Service are general in nature and provided for information only. They do not constitute financial, legal, engineering, electrical, or other professional advice and must not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a suitably qualified professional. Any figures, estimates, or projected savings are indicative only and will vary with your property and circumstances.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a legally binding contract to use the Service.

4. Third-party providers

Where you ask us to connect you with a third-party provider, any agreement for goods or services is formed solely between you and that provider. Solar Verdict is not a party to that agreement and is not responsible for the products, services, conduct, pricing, or workmanship of any provider. You are responsible for satisfying yourself as to a provider's suitability, qualifications, and certification.

5. Independence

Solar Verdict is independent and is not affiliated with, nor acting as agent for, any single installer or provider.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the Service, including text, graphics, design, and trade marks, is owned by or licensed to Solar Verdict and is protected by applicable laws. You may view and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use; you must not otherwise reproduce, distribute, or exploit it without our prior written consent.

7. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the Service, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access, interfering with its operation, submitting false or misleading information, or using it for any unlawful purpose.

8. No warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or representations, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or availability of the Service or any content, including any estimate or assessment.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Solar Verdict will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or any loss of profits, anticipated savings, data, or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service or any introduction to a third-party provider. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Solar Verdict against any claim, loss, liability, or expense arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

11. Privacy

Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

13. Changes

We may amend these Terms from time to time. The current version is published on this page and applies from the date shown below.
